OC Kirumira: Cops In Bed With Armed Robbers

Kirumira was last week temporarily detained on allegations of receiving a bribe of shs200, 000.

He, however, maintains that the money received on his mobile phone was meant to compensate complainants whose money had been stolen by city thugs.

Famed for defeating hard ore criminals in areas of, Kisaasi, Nansana, Kisenyi, Bukoto, Wandegeya, Nakulabye, Kirumira on Monday revealed a plot by some officers he accused of conniving with thieves to frame him using edited recorded audio tapes.

“I am told some experts somewhere are busy rehearsing my voice to create some stuff against me. This deal involves those who claim to have tapes which since my arrest they failed to avail for public consumption.”

While the matter is before the Police standards Unit for investigation, Kirumira says the officials have “neglected or refused” to summon the two victims of robbery whom he was helping.

He said some individuals are “frustrating our efforts just because they occupy authoritative offices. I know directors and the council will intervene and wipe out these hidden wolves.”

Kirumira gave an example of the five men he arrested as they tried to break into a super market at Kibulooka who included a cop of the Police Flying Squad.

He also provided a deep insight into the wrangles within units battling robbers, identifying key individuals facilitating crime in Kampala. They include former security personnel under the infamous Rapid Response Unit (RRU).

They are Ibrahim Nsubuga, George Kalera Macupa, Fred, Medi and Hamada.

“This must come to the attention of the IGP,” he noted.

Police publicist Fred Enanga said Kirumira was briefly apprehended after complaints from members of the public that he received a bribe.

He promised an indepth investigation into the incident.
