“A soldier killed nine people in Karugutu, Ntoroko and later killed himself,” Ankunda said in a social media message.
Ankunda identified the culprit as Chris Amanyire, an LDU soldier in Ntoroko district Western Uganda.
“Five soldiers are among the dead.”
“UPDF condoles with the bereaved families of killed soldiers, civilians,” continued Ankunda.
He says the army will meet burial costs of the dead.
UPDF soldiers killing colleagues or civilians over women has become a habit.
Only this year, so far four soldiers have killed over women with the said incidents taking place in Mbuya, Kampala, Kabale, and northern Uganda, respectively.
Ankunda tells Chimpreports that there could be a mental disorder with some of their officers.
“We are still investigating to ascertain whether they are mentally disturbed.”
