Her rivals including; Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Ahamadah Wakhweya got 3,270 votes, the independent Joseph Masolo Bufwambu got 1,684 votes, the Democratic Party (DP) candidate Paul Butita got 662 votes as another independent Emma Mwiyikinwa got 128 votes.
Bubulo polls caught more fire when President Yoweri Museveni himself rushed to Manafawa district to campaign for the NRM flag bearer Mutonyi.
He called upon the residents to vote Mutonyi because she was determined to fight corruption and develop the district.
“I handed the NRM flag to Rose Mutonyi and urge Ugandans in Bubulo West sub-county to make her your choice. She was a teacher before she served as RDC and later ambassador to India,” he pointed out.
“She is very strict and hardworking, and has taken on several people who attempt to misuse public funds. We need local leaders like this who will resist wrong things and monitor the implementation of Government programmes in every area.”
It seems the President’s time and words did not go to waste as proven by her sumptuous win registered yesterday at the close of Bubulo west by-elections.
