Wednesday’s cabinet meeting appointed Mr. Alex Bwangamoi Okello, (current Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works), and Eng. Monica Azuba Ntege (Stanbic Bank Facilities Manager) to fill up the vacant positions.
The appointment comes a few months after being reinstated by Works Minister, Hon. Abraham Byandala, who had suspended it in 2012.
The minister said he had disbanded the board on grounds that it was not fully constituted, with several members terms expired.
It later emerged, however, that the body was reeled by fierce internal differences, compelling the minister to take action.
With yesterday’s appointment, the board is now fully constituted set to take up its roles.
Other members on the new board include Mrs Angela Kiryambwire (chairperson), Eng Kasingye Kyamugambi, and Dr Umar Bagampadde, Ishmael Magona.
“Among other roles the board members will be to manage provisions and maintenance of national roads in a more efficient and effective manner and render advisory services to government,” said Information Minister Hon Rose Namayanja, while addressing press today.
The board is the governing body of the authority which sets appropriate guiding policies for the Authority to meet their objectives.
