Outside City Hall, police that had heavily deployed barred the supporters from entering but allowed Lukwago to go in.

As soon as Lukwago entered the compound, his office was also opened and dusted clean by KCCA workers, according to eyewitnesses.


“I am ready to work with everybody who respects the rule of law because this is not an issue of Lukwago as an individual but rather the will of the people of Kampala who voted me into office and I must represent,” Lukwago is on record to have said shortly after last week’s court ruling.

Lukwago’s supporters stopped from entering

He stressed that he is ready to assume his office as Kampala Lord Mayor adding, that he is going to start from where he had stopped to work for the development and wellbeing of the Kampalans.


High Court judge, Lydia Mugambe, on Friday afternoon barred the Electoral Commission from organising for by elections to fill the position of Kampala Lord Mayor pending the outcome of the case in court where Erias Lukwago challenged KCCA report that accused him of incompetence which led to his impeachment by the council meeting in November last year.
