Mao Clarifies On Kasese Arrest

“We were intercepted at a police called Katungulu momentarily. But I was not detained as you were told earlier,” Mao clarified.

“They only barred us from proceeding to Kasese, threatening to arrest us if we insisted,” he cleared the air.

He further explained that they weren’t planning to hold a rally as such but had a meeting in a designated hall in Kasese town.

“We were just going to meet and deliberate about a few issues but police blocked all the venues and prevented us from accessing them.”

Meanwhile, FDC party President, Gen Mugisha Muntu and the Kasese Woman MP, Winnie Kizza, had their radio talk show cancelled by police.

“They shut down the radio where Muntu and Kizza were holding a talk show with the aim of totalling frustrating our efforts,” Mao continued.

Asked on whether they have now abandoned the Kasese campaign, moa assured us that they will not back off until they have achieved their aim.

“We will meet tomorrow and plan the next move. But it should be noted that our efforts will not be easily frustrated.”

Police has of recent arrested and foiled opposition’s free and fair campaigns in places like Mbale, Soroti, Kabale and now Kasese district.

Police says that they (opposition) have failed to comply with the given procedures, the reason why police continues to intervene in their rallies.
