“Issues that the probe will seek to address include stolen visa money, absenteeism at work, missing and mixing up of passports, stolen passports, delayed work permits, passport forgeries, slow delivery, congestion and poor services at the department, non Ugandans being issued with our passports, management of entry and exit points etc.”
“The committee is gathering information from different sources including relevant documents and key individuals including-senior Management, staff and employees at the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration,” the statement further reads.
Contrary to media reports, the probe is not investigating the National Identity Card Project which is well on progress under the theme ‘My Country, My Identity’.
“Registration for the Identity Cards will start on April 14, 2014.”
