Police: 19 Killed, 32 Missing In L. Albert Boat Accident

The boat carrying about 96 people capsized on Lake Albert at a place called Ndaiga in Kibale District on Saturday morning.


According to Police, most of the passengers were Congolese refugees from Kyangwali settlement camp.


They were moving from Kyenjojo landing site in Kyangwali , Hoima District to Ntoroko.


The Captain has been detained pending questioning by CID Officers.


Police further cited overloading as the cause of the accident.


Officials said the death toll is expected to rise higher.
