UBL Bolsters Water Security In Naguru

“Access to safe water and sanitation is a catalyst to better health of the community. It is our hope that this intervention will help address the challenges that this community face in terms of water shortage,” said Okura.

She further mentioned that this investment is just one of the many water projects that Uganda Breweries Limited has implemented across the country, having recently invested in water and sanitation programmes in Kampala, Jinja and Mbarara – altogether benefitting over 1,000,000 people.

The facilities, installed with technical support of Agency for Capacity Building (ACB), are part of a wider initiative to ensure sustainable development through provision of access to clean water.

The tanks handed over to the community are linked to a water harvesting facility have a capacity of 20,000 litres each. They will be managed by the Naguru community.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has over the years, played a significant role in providing access to clean, sustainable safe water through the EABL Foundation ‘Water of Life’ initiative.

The ‘Water of Life’ programme was launched in 2006 as Diageo’s commitment to make a tangible contribution to the UN Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 7, target 10, to reduce by half the proportion of people in Africa without access to water and adequate sanitation
