According to the facility’s police chief, Hashim Kasinga, Nyonzima is attached to the Central pharmacy at Mulago where a pack of malaria tablets is sold at Shs 15,000.

“We are holding both of them here at Mulago police station on charges of drug theft. Investigations into the matter are still underway,” Kasinga told Chimpreports.

He adds that cases of drug thefts have been on the rise at Mulago, adding, the latest development remains a useful clue in exposing the entire racket.

Thousands of poor patients continue to die in the hands of doctors at government health facilities due to theft of government drugs.

A taskforce led by Dr Atwiine has on several occasions arrested medical practitioners for smuggling government drugs to private clinics for personal benefit.
