Early in the morning, police deployed at Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s home to bar him from attending a planned consultative meeting in Katwe.
It the same reason Besigye’s abode has been sealed off too.
Meanwhile, on ground sources told us that security has also been beefed up at Katwe where the rally by opposition activists is scheduled to take place.
“Police has surrounded the area with a tear gas truck, surveillance camera van and another truck full of policemen,” said an eyewitness.
“Other activities including welding and other works are going on despite police officers manning all entrances to prevent any intruders,” continued the witness.
“However, residents are crying foul over police deployment saying, that it has stagnated their work because customers have reduced.”
Security is tight outside Lukwago’s home
The intended meeting was banned by police yesterday claiming that the notice came a little too late and that the meeting breaches the Public Order Management Act.
