“We are charging Malo for diverting office computer to personal work while he was away, the same doctor was getting salary while not on duty and was sneaking in his own patients into a government hospital and making them to pay for the services after he operated them,” Kayonga revealed, during the weekly press briefing at Central Police Station Kampala.

Kayonga adds that under this monitoring unit, this is not accepted and that they have decided to expose doctor Malo so that other health workers receive the message.

Medicines and health services delivery monitoring unit was established His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in September 2009 and it’s under the Office of the President.

The unit was formed after many complaints were coming up that government hospitals are in a sore state, no drugs a lot of absenteeism from duty and extortion of patients by medical personnel.

The unit is concerned with monitoring drug thefts, misallocation of funds meant for drugs, especially those marked government of Uganda and also seeing that health workers are at the assigned stations.

Malo will be charged with absenting himself from work as per the monitoring unit.
