He said that labouring women in the area had for long born the pain of having to travel distances to give birth in the main Jinja Referral Hospital.

Eskom Chairman, Mr Zola Tsotshe, while handing over the structure, said that the development was part of their usual corporate social responsibility.

“Research shows that one out of thirteen pregnant women in sub Saharan Africa is likely to die while giving birth, which we think is an alarming figure.”

“This is why we set up this structure and we will fully equip it to ensure that the lives of mothers in Kimaka village are safeguarded.”
