Speaking to the NRM Parliamentary Caucus on Tuesday, Museveni gave the example of First Lady Janet Museveni who was elected by Ruhaama Constituents to Parliament before she was elevated to Minister for Karamoja.

He reminded lawmakers that the Karamoja docket had earlier been rejected by Col Tom Butime as a “demotion.”

“Janet has done a good job in Karamoja. She has helped us transform that region to prosperity,” Museveni was quoted as saying.

He also hinted on Gen Salim Saleh, saying he started participating in the liberation struggles at a tender age until the seizure of Kampala by NRA in 1986.

Museveni’s remarks came amid criticism that the better part of influential positions is occupied by his closest of kin.
