ActionAid said in a statement on Wednesday that it appreciates AAR and Mbarara Hospital medical specialists who supported her treatment and recovery.


“Therefore today we are celebrating the significant improvement in her physical and psychological health,” the statement reads in part.


ActionAid had earlier come under pressure for reportedly exploiting Zainab’s health complications for its own economic motives, a charge the group denies.

It further said the experiences of management of this case presents evidence of big challenges that requires urgent National attention for the protection and safety of women and girls in Uganda.
