This website understands that audio recordings brought forward by team of intelligence operatives were played before the NRM members in which the Premier was pinned for mobilising supporters in different parts of the country to strategise for his presidency come 2016.

Mbabazi has on several occasions publicly denied having campaigned for President Museveni.

He also refuted reports he would contest against Museveni in 2016.

“As a loyal cadre of the Movement, I cannot stand against Museveni,” he affirmed.

Chimpreports has also learnt from intelligence that President Museveni recently grilled Mbabazi’s wife Jacqueline Mbabazi for almost six hours at State House, Entebbe during which she confessed mobilising support for the powerful Secretary General to stand for President.

Sources further said this information was to be relayed before Mbabazi on Monday.

“However, Mbabazi stormed out of the Entebbe meeting, saying he intended to pick his daughter-in-law from the airport. This was strange because the meeting was being attended by the President. That’s the reason it was adjourned to Tuesday,” said a high ranking NRM official who has been attending the Entebbe meetings.

It is on grounds of “misuse” of Secretary General position that NRM MPs moved a motion Tuesday that Mbabazi steps down or be thrown out.

Observers say the Entebbe developments could leave destroy Mbabazi’s political career and also slacken off his tight grip on the party.

Should Mbabazi quit as SG, he is likely to remain vulnerable for possible dismissal from the Prime Minister job.

“We have agreed that Mbabazi must resign. This is because he used the party position to serve his own interests. This was an office of the party but he chose to use it to build his own NRM within NRM and to make himself more visible that the party. So, he has to go,” the source, who fought in the NRA bush war, told Chimpreports on Tuesday night.
