“The defeated SPLA is reportedly organising and has already started using tens of gunships to take back the town,” a source told Chimpreports.
Bor town has been the epicenter of the now three weeks war which broke out on Dec 15, 2013 when President Salva Kiir accused his former deputy, Riek Machar, of attempting to overthrown him in a coup.
Meanwhile, Riek Machar has announced his readiness to ceasefire if the government of South Sudan responds in the same manner.
“We are ready to ceasefire if the Government of Salva Kiir reciprocates,” read a statement signed by Hussein Mar Nyuot and released yesterday.
“We call upon the AU and the IGAD to restrain the Ugandan Government from fuelling the conflict by sending troops and war planes in support of the Government of Salva Kiir.”
Kiir was quoted saying that “we will ceasefire but if the SPLA is attacked, they will defend themselves”.
More details to follow.
