“But government is working with the United Nations to ensure they are taken to Higlig in Sudan (North) where UPDF Airforce will airlift them to Entebbe,” Namayanja points out.

Save for Bentui, over 1,500 Ugandans have been trapped in the town of Bor in Jonglei State amid the fighting and staying in squalid conditions in a UN camp.

“Two buses are in Juba for those Ugandans from other areas.”

According to Minister Namayanja, UPDF has so far evacuated over 2,000 Ugandans by Air and Road.

“The Government of Uganda sent another 13 buses which have just been dispatched by Uganda’s Ambassador in S. Sudan, Gen. Rusoke,” she observes.

These buses are said to be escorted by Military Police to “ensure safe passage of our nationals”.

“We appeal to all Ugandans in South Sudan to stay in contact with their leadership in the respective areas, those leaders are liaising with our Embassy constantly,” she notes.
