Eng. John Byabagambi said that the money is aimed at addressing the problems met during emergency cases in the maternity ward.
He also revealed that a team of officials and engineers from Ibanda district visited the health centre and made a report.
Assistant Nursing Officer, Ms Evangelista Kyakuhaire, who is also in-charge of the maternity ward, told Chimpreports that the health centre veranda of the outpatients ward and ceilings are in a sorry state.
“Even bats have started breeding in the buildings posing a disease threat to patients admitted at the facility,” Kyakuhaire stated.
Currently, the health centre has only one midwife after some were transferred with no replacement.
The maternity ward currently has no electricity as they have been operating using a paraffin lantern which also poses a health hazard.
Hon. Eng. John Byabagambi donated 12 mattresses for maternity wards and pledged more support.
