“We should be able to have the basic necessities in life. People will apply all means available to them in search for these, but it is so unfortunate that many of these means have resulted into violence, promiscuity and murder,” Lwanga pointed out.

“However, prostitution has increased in Uganda. The latest report indicates that 6,500 prostitutes are in Kampala and 900 of whom are men which results into HIV/AIDS and irresponsible immoral sexual behaviours.”

“All this calls for a serious moral and ethical concern in our country which exposes our children to the risk of developing wrong moral attitudes.”

The archbishop also noted that “We have moral challenges of abortion. The use of contraceptives and condoms should be advocated for in schools as away to stop early pregnancies”.

He added: “because of his love and care for us, God willed to share in our human condition to the point of becoming one with us in the person of Jesus.”

The archbishop was also concerned with the increase of corruption in the country.

He appealed to Ugandans to fight “this habit that is eating our society, homes, institutions and government”.

He called upon parents to take seriously this negative attitude being promoted by some interested groups and help to protect the children from such malpractices “if we are to build a safe society for our country”.
