More 65 Soldiers Defect From Lakes State

Reports from Yirol West and Awerial counties of Lakes state say three to four civilains were killed by SPLA forces loyal president Salvar Kiir on Wednesday and Thursday.

After the killing of locals, a SPLA junior commander who is not yet named was killed with two body guards on Thursday evening.

The Rumbek East county commissioner, David Marial, confirmed in the Lakes State capital Rumbek today, that troops now thought to be loyal to Machar defected from their base yesterday at 6pm and started moving towards Jonglei state where they killed four people on the way.

It comes at a time when many more soldiers were reported to have defected and taken over two towns of Nasir and Wandang in the upper Nile states.
