Early in the week, Gen Peter Gadet led his army division into Bor town seizing Jonglei state as he accused President Salva Kiir of targeting neur tribes in the “cooked up” coup claims.

However, government forces moved fast and launched an assault on Gen Gadet’s bases in Bor staging one of the fiercest fights so far in South Sudan tribal clashes.

After massive bombardment with planes and other heavy artillery, Gen Gadet and his mutineer army fled from Bor and retreated to Akobo still in Jonglei state.

Right now, another fierce fight is about to erupt in Bor as another militia group “White Army” regroups to counter the government forces now occupying Bor town.

The Dinkas and the Nuers are the largest of more than 200 ethnic groups, each with its own languages and traditional beliefs, alongside Christianity and Islam.

Sudan’s arid north is a home to Arabic-speaking Muslims. But in South Sudan, there is no dominant culture.
