Speaking to the deputy police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, this morning, Chimpreports learnt that police received intelligence yesterday about the same matter and moved fast to deploy around the targeted areas.

Just now, Nabakooba has released a statement in which she vowed to hunt down such elements so that Ugandans celebrate the festive season in peace and quiet.

Here is Nabakooba’s full statement:

Police has received information of plans by some terror groups to attack Police stations and security installations in Kampala and other parts of the country, with the view of securing some weapons to be used to terrorise, cause panic and confusion during this festival season.

Police with other security agencies after receiving this information have taken up measures, so that this terror group does not succeed.

The measures include but not limited to heightened Police security deployment, visible foot and motorised patrols and access control measures.

This is to strongly warn whoever is involved in this evil plans to immediately reject it with the organisers or else the law will take its course.

We want to assure the public that we shall protect them before, during and after the festival season.

We call upon everybody to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious person (s) or object (s) to the nearest Police Station/post, Security personnel within the vicinity, or LC Official.

We advise the public not to panic as we are hunting for these evil elements, with a view of arresting and prosecuting them.
