“This is a new chapter and I think we should take everything at the back so that we can develop the game of motorsport. I am going out of office but still, I will serve the game with passion,” said Kagimu.

He also observed that on the side of Festino Cite, the place that will host the last sprint on FMU calendar, maximum security has been ensured to enable fans enjoy the day’s event.

The last time Southern Motor club hosted a sprint at Festino Cite in 2011, the club’s president was beaten by fans after promising motor-riders to entertain the crowd and they didn’t show-up.

According to the organisers, 19 drivers have registered to take part but registration is still going on and more than 30 drivers are expected to register.

However, “heavy weight” drivers like Suzan Muwonge and Jas Mangati will not take part in this sprint of 7.2km.

The last sprint to be hosted at Festino was won by Fred Wampamba who drives Subaru N8.
