The arrest of Pagan Amum brings the number of arrests to 11 topping on the 10 formerly detained Cabinet officials.

Yesterday, this website exclusively published the 10 names of former Cabinet ministers arrested after the coup and hours later, Kiir ordered his Information minister, Micheal Makuei Lueth, to officially release the names of the apprehended suspects which was consequently done at the president’s office.

Former ministers arrested by yesterday and confirmed by Makuei include Gier Chuang Aluong (Roads and Bridges), Majak d’Agoot (Defence), Dr Cirino Hiteng (Culture, Children and Sports), Deng Alor Kuor (Cabinet Affairs), John Luk Jok (Justice), Kosti Manibe (Finance and Economic Planning) and Madut Biar (Telecommunication and Postal Services) etc.

Unlike Pagan Amum who was taken to national security headquarters, the above were reportedly being detained in a “safe house” in the neighbourhood of Amarat near the Assessment and Evaluation Commission headquarters after making statements at General Police Offices a Buluk Juba.

The government is yet to make a statement on Amum and also brief the nation since the declaration of the return of business yesterday and flights.
