Makuei further reported that five of the members including ‘the leader’ Dr. Riek Machar are still at large.

He said some those being pursued for their role in the failed coup are Alfred Ladu Gore, Pagam Amum, Taban Deng Gai and Adwok Nyaba.

“Those who are still at large will be apprehended,” vowed Makuei.

“According to our sources, some of them have moved out of Juba town towards the Terekeka areas, north of the Capital Juba, probably with the intention of moving towards the base of Dr. Riek. Whether they will reach there is a situation that we will wait to see,” he further warned.

The minister also said President Kiir early today held a meeting with the leaders and elders of Nuer community in order to clarify the ‘misleading information’ that Nuer as a tribe is been targeted.

“The composition of the people involved dismisses this rumour. These people (coup plotters) are from various states of South Sudan with only one of them from the Nuer tribe,” Mikuei reiterated, adding, “This should be seen as a coup attempt by a group of people not a tribe.”
