The MTN Kampala Marathon is back and in this 14th edition.

It’s going to be better if we are to go with what has been said during its launch at the Crested Towers.

The Chief Executive Officer for MTN Wim Vanhelleputte speaking at the launch, said: “I thank my partners for coming on board and sticking with us. The fact that we have been there for this Marathon for all these years shows that it’s a good event.”

He added: “It’s very professional because of the involvement of the Uganda Athletics Federation who works hand in hand with the IAAF. Let’s come in large numbers as we run for the good cause and paint the City of Kampala yellow once again.”

Participants have been given a chance to choose which cause they will be running for: Either to improve maternal health or reduce child exposure to cancer.

Proceedings will be used to provide better facilities in Kiswa and Komamboga health centres, while others will be used to reduce the exposure of school going children to cancer caused by carcinogens present in asbestos roofings of public schools.

The Marathon is set to take place on November 19, 2017 and a 5-kilometer family run has been added to the menu.

Since inception, the MTN Kampala Marathon has raised more than Shs3bn to support several causes including but not limited to improved access to clean water and sanitation, support maternal health among others.
