The suspects have been identified as; Frank Mugisha, Abey Sembujja and Hamis Kyeyune, who disguises as a mechanic in Kamwokya.
“We received a number of complaints from boda boda riders, that they are being terrorised by robbers at the Northern by-pass, most of their motorcycles have been stolen and some of them have been killed. After making thorough investigations, we arrested Frank Mugisha who led us to his accomplices,” Kasinga revealed.
He added: “The three have been using arms in the robberies they have carried out and the search is going to find those guns, but preliminary investigations show that the trio has been using a sub machine gun.”
Kasinga said that the three will be taken to court where they will face armed robbery and murder charges.
Meanwhile, police in Kalerwe yesternight got caught up in a shootout with three armed robbers, where one of the robbers only identified as Sharrif was killed.
According to Ceaser Tusingwire, the DPC Wandegeya police station, the three were suspected to have stolen a car which had number plates from the neighbouring Congo and when patrol police pursued them, they started exchanging fire.
Joseph Juuko and Geoffrey Sonko were arrested whereas the body of Sharrif was taken to Mulago.
