The tournament was scheduled to take place in the Lugogo indoor stadium but the stadium management presented no availability of the venue note to the Boxing Federation on Sunday.

Federation officials wanted boxers to get used to the indoor stadium starting from their amateur careers.

Boxers legible for this tournament are those who made it to the semi-finals of the novice tournament that ended two weeks back.

It has been eight years since a legally accepted boxing tournament was last held.

The Federation now has indicated that the tournament will start on January 12, 2014 at the same venue (Lugogo) with more than 20 boxers expected to take part.
