Maggie Kigozi, the president for the International Federation of Business and Women Uganda Chapter, while speaking at a press conference at Imperial Royale Kampala, said that women do a lot of things in business and farming but government does not support them in many aspects.

“Government can support women by buying from them as a way of market creation, trainings through providing them with expertise, provision of free information, among others,” Maggie said.

She added: “Women farmers in different parts of the country, produce good quality products but they face a lot of challenges including; competition from the world market, lack of training centers where they can be trained on how to harvest, lack of good advisory services like equity companies, and investment companies, lack of start up capital and high taxes that at times deny others a chance to join farming.”

Julian Omalla, the Managing Director Delight Uganda Limited, observed that the government needs to put up training centers where farmers can be trained proper farming techniques.

“Government should to look for market for their (farmers) produce because they produce good quality products,” Omalla suggested.
