Led by their chairman, Semugoma Kigozi Bamulanzeki, the traders revealed that the situation arose due to the breakdown of a power transformer, something that has brought their businesses to a standstill.

Meanwhile, Umeme staff responded swiftly and promised to work on the power transformer before 4:00pm calming the angry traders and and allowing them an opportunity to return to their businesses.

The DPC, Central Police Station (CPS), Denis Namuwoza has condemned the act by the traders of blocking the road and throwing rubbish in the road adding that this is unfair as it disorganises other road users, hence promising to work hand in hand with Umeme to ensure that situations like this don’t arise again.
