“Though Odeke lost his last fight against Abadallah Nassib from Iran, he caught the eyes of some European boxing promotion companies upon which they contacted us,” said one of the officials from UPBC.

Odeke upon receiving this news, revealed that “I missed out on a chance of playing from abroad because Uganda didn’t take part in the Olympics but this is a good chance for me and so I have to utilise it’’.

Kenneth Odeke has only four professional boxing fights in his career.

He has won three of them with a knock-out and lost one to Abdallah Nassib.

Odeke will not be the only Uganda to benefit from this opportunity but also some other boxers like Dragon Kidega, Medi ‘Kabona’ Ssebyala, Martin Mubiru, Charles Mulindwa and Solomon Ssessanga are among others.

These boxers led by Kenneth Odeke are expected to be in Ireland by the end of this week.

Nyakana Andrew, a professional boxing promoter, will ensure their safety landing Ireland.
