It is aimed at discussing “leadership and the change of public administration strategies in building a sustainable service delivery.”
Speaking to Chimpreports on phone, the minister of Information and National Guidance, Rose Namayanja, said the retreat is well attended.
“All of us are enthusiastic and hoping for the best when the three days elapse,” Namayanja said.
The retreat comes at atime of increased criticism of government’s failure to deliver public services especially in the health and education sectors.
Many believe that while government comes up with good strategies on ensuring an effective public sector, its efforts are always watered down by corruption and greed of a few civil servants.
The retreat is sponsored by the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute with the aim of finding a solution to leadership challenges.
According to the tentative programme the issues to be discussed inclue shifting paradigms in Public Administration; developing winning and visionary teams and change management, all aimed at improving service delivery in the country.
