Besigye reassures FDC supporters
Recently, more than 3,800 former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters in Rukungiri district, were reported to have defected to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
According to earlier reports, the defections were witnessed by NRM’s district chairman, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi and President Museveni, while attending a fundraising function for Christ the King Church Parish building, in Rukungiri Municipality.
Muhwezi is reported to have gone the extra mile of dubbing the defectors Balokole, and congratulated them for “rejecting lies by which they were hoodwinked to join FDC”.

Similar reports circulated during the Independence celebrations in October, when 400 FDC fans are said to have met Museveni at Rwakitura where they accused their party leaders of confusing them with lies.
Now the battle of these two parties has found its fulcrum in Rukungiri district as each party struggles to maintain its supremacy over there.
In Rukungiri yesterday, Dr Besigye was seen collecting NRM cards and t-shirts.
