Ascano, received money worth Shs 20,700,000 from five believers of Lift Up Jesus Church belonging to Bishop Aloysius Kiiza situated in Kirigime Kabale Municipality, promising to take them to Israel for a pastoral course.
“On reaching Nairobi, they realised that they had been conned and they reported to the Kenyan police who forced her to bring them back to Uganda and back to Kabale where she made an agreement to refund their money,” Matte narrated.
He added that “on the night of November 29, while holding prayers at Lift up Jesus church, pastor Lourdes Ascano escaped through Katuna boarder and went to Rwanda”.
“When they learnt of her escape, they reported to Kabale police who liaised with Rwanda police and she was arrested on November 30, and handed back to Kabale police on Tuesday night,” Matte explained.
It is reported that Ascano came to Uganda in July 2012 on a missionary work and has been moving to churches in Fort portal, Kampala, Kabale and Rwanda empowering believers in faith.
Matte noted that after investigations are complete with enough evidence, she will be taken to court to face charges of extortion.
