Kadaga Calls For Patience As MPs Protest Parking Space

The government through Security minister, Muruli Mukasa has requested for more time to work on the parking area at parliament following today’s protest by parliaments concerning the same issue.

The parking which cost Shs 36 billion was handed over to the Speaker of Parliament on October 31, 2013 but the Speaker then asked members to wait for one week for the president to officially open it.

After the official opening by president Museveni on November 8, the deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanya, in the sitting of November 12, again informed members that the government had resolved that a Shs 6.5 billion security equipment needs to be fitted in the parking and finance Ministry already directed which would take around one to two weeks.

However, it has taken over three weeks prompting Members of Parliament today to stage a protest by parking their cars in all entrants and exits of the
August House.
