Others at the airport to bid farewell included the Commander of Air Force, Maj. General Sam Turyagyenda, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Andrew Sorowen and the Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Mr. James Mwanje.
The Presidential plane touched the ground at Nnandi Azikiwe International airport at 6:05 pm Nigerian time on Tuesday.
“Temperature on arrival was 33 degrees Celsius, quite humid,” said the president’s Communications Assistant, Sarah Kagingo.
He was received at the airport by the Nigerian State Minister for foreign affairs Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, Ugandan Minister for regional cooperation Hon. Asuman Asuman Kiyingi, Ugandan High Commissioner to Nigeria Kagimu Kiwanuka and many other diplomats from African countries accredited to Nigeria.
Kagingo said President Museveni later met and held bilateral discussions with Jonathan at the Nigerian State House villa in the capital Abuja.
She did not divulge details of their meeting.
“The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest to the two nations,” said Kagingo.
The President will tomorrow give a public lecture on the topic “Education and National Development – An African Perspective” to the Nigerian Institute of advanced and legal studies.
