Nyanzi said Tumwebaze should wait for the determination of the main application challenging the KCCA Tribunal report that implicated the Mayor for misconduct, incompetence and abuse of office.
“While I respect the ruling of Justice Nyanzi giving an order to me to stop the convening of a KCCA meeting as well as implementation of the tribunal report until an administrative review application is heard, I am only wondering how practicable this ruling is?” Tumwebaze said in a statement to Chimpreports on Thursday.
“How do you implement an order that seeks to stop an activity that has already taken place? Both his interim order given today and the earlier one purported to have been given on Monday and which was served to the Attorney General in court at 10 o’clock exist after the authority meeting of 25 November 2013, had taken place,” the Minister added.
“So what then do these orders intend to stop? I have accordingly written to the attorney General to seek his guidance on the matter.”
Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo early this week said it’s the position of the establishment that Lukwago is impeached.
Tumwebaze’s statement implies that should Nyombi discredit Nyanzi’s ruling, Lukwago is likely to be kept away from office.
The Uganda Law Society Secretary General, Nicholas Opiyo on Tuesday warned government against disregarding a court ruling.
MP Moses Kasibante today said opposition MPs will escort Lukwago back to his office as early as 8:00am on Friday.
