In the first game played at Nyao stadium, Zanzibar bagged 3 points in group A after thrashing South Sudan 2-1.

South Sudan looked to have improved on their playing style since they managed to score a goal.

In last year’s competitions held in Uganda, South Sudan played three group stage games but they failed to score any goal.

This is the second time for South Sudan to take part in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

In last game and most important game of the day, Kenya settled for a goalless draw with Ethiopia.

Ethiopians

Both sides put a good impression but failed to score in the game.

However, Ethiopia was a better side and in this case, Ethiopia had more complete passes than hosts Kenya.

Uganda’s referee, Denis Batte, who officiated the game, had a balanced game that gave him no hard time in decision making.

CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup continues tomorrow, Thursday, with again two games that will be broadcasted live on Supersport 9 select.

However, the turn-up of fans has been low although higher than that in Uganda last year.

The first game will be between Burundi and Somalia and the last will be Tanzania vs Zambia at 2pm and 4pm respectively, both will be group B games.
