He is reportedly detained at Wandegeya Police Station in Kampala.

Deputy Police publicist, Patrick Onyango, confirmed the arrest in an exclusive interview with Chimpreports.

“Yes, it is true we have detained Kamagu pending investigations into his earlier utterances,” said Onyango.

He denied reports Kamagu was picked for hosting Kidandala.

Kampala Metropolitan Police commander, Andrew Kaweesi, on Monday threatened to crack the whip on journalists who “are misleading the public and inciting violence.”

Asked to specify the charges for which the journalist was being held, Onyango noted:

“There has been a general inquiry file into his conduct. The CID personnel are at Uganda Communications Commission to retrieve recordings of his shows after which action will be taken accordingly.”

The arrest is likely to attract a firm response from the fourth estate.
