The latest development is likely to put the nation on edge considering education institutions are homes to thousands of young people including children.

“As Police, we request proprietors of education institutions to give support to our personnel who are going to be deployed in the respective places,” said Nabakooba.

Police did not reveal any group or individuals suspected in the terrorist threat.

However, the Somali Al Shabaab militants have in recent months threatened to attack Kampala after killing scores at Westgate Mall in Kenya Capital, Nairobi.

“Members of the public are called upon to exercise vigilance, work with Police to ensure total security at such educational institutions and other public places during this season,” she added.

“However, there should be no panic or fear.”
