Kamwenge: 6 Cops Arrested Over Civilian Shooting

The Rwenzori Regional Police commander, Katanyerera Mushabe, confirmed the arrest but declined to reveal their identities as investigations are still going on.

“A team of detectives from Police Standards Unit are currently heading the investigations into which policemen who are expected to ensure law and order were allegedly involved in the shooting of unarmed civilian,” Mushabe pointed out.

He noted that the report from the detectives who are investigating the matter will guide IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura to make changes in the leadership of Police in Kamwenge.

On Monday evening, while addressing the public at Kamwenge Town Council grounds during the community policing, in reference to the controversial death of Ofwono, Katonyerera promised to make changes in the leadership of police in Kamwenge as their DPC, Johnson Kiconco Tibbs had failed to tame his officers.
