While presiding over the Buganda Youth Day held on Saturday at Lubiri grounds in Mengo, ailment http://ccresourcecenter.org/wp-includes/functions.wp-scripts.php the Kabaka remarked that all the youth must take education as their first priority in getting employment but they “should not depend on job seeking.”
“Create your own self-help projects and start employing yourselves,” the Kabaka suggested.
Similarly, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, thanked the Baganda youth for being exemplary to other tribes in the country in their ways of work.
“I call upon all the youth in Buganda to work hard in protecting the kingdom but the easiest way of achieving this is through all people getting employed where they can earn at least Shs 3000 a day,” Mayiga remarked.
The minister for youth in Buganda Kingdom, Henry Sekabembe, extended his great appreciation to the Kabaka for recognising the role played by the youth in developing the Kingdom and for choosing Charles Peter Mayiga as his Katikiro.
“The problem of unemployment in the country is blamed on the poor education system whereby most of the students trained are job seekers rather than job creators. So, I promise that while I’m still in office, I will fight the unemployment problem in Buganda today,” said Sekabembe.
The function was also attended by various members from organisations uniting the youth in Buganda like Nkobazambogo, BANGAWA, Buganda Youth Platform, and ministers from Buganda government, MPs, the Lord Mayor and other dignitaries.
