The students’ storming of university offices follows the University staff members’ prolonged strike protesting the return of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaiah Ndiege.

A section of lecturers and supporg staff last month laid down their tools and vowed not to return to work unless Prof. Ndiege resigns his position as vice chancellor.

The Nakawa High Court later ruled that Prof. Ndiege could not leave before his contract expires and thus reinstated him.

His return worsened matters until the Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura intervened but to no avail.

By 2:30pm, students at Kyambogo University had already besieged the administration block vowing not to leave until their lecturers have resumed teaching.
