Museveni used the platform to criticise some NRM mobilisers and politicians for failure to explain the NRM agenda which he said was breeding dissatisfaction.
The Kasese defection brings to 600 the number of FDC fanatics to switch to NRM in less than one month.
At least 400 FDC supporters in Rukungiri District renounced FDC at a function held at President Museveni’s country home in Rwakitura last month.
FDC disputed the figure, saying it was concocted by NRM strategists.
State House responded by releasing photographs of known FDC enthusiasts in Rukungiri as they danced and entertained President Museveni.
This development also raises fresh questions about FDC’s ability to trounce the NRM come 2016. Kasese is considered one of FDC’s main strongholds.
FDC leader, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu believes a united opposition can seize power in the upcoming presidential elections.
He has as well been carrying out grassroot mobilization campaigns to encourage FDC adherents not to give up their struggle to remove Museveni.
