He was speaking Friday at the commissioning of the Shs 36 bn state of parliament’s newly refurbished parking complex at Parliamentary Building in Kampala. The structure is expected to accommodate over 500 vehicles.
The five level underground complex, which cost Shs 36 billion, is fitted with fire fighting and security systems. Officials say it is the solution to Parliament’s parking woes
Museveni said the funds used to construct the parking lot were domestically sourced.
“I am glad to announce that this was not donor money,” said Museveni before congratulating himself for having availed money for this Parliament parking space.
He expressed hope that the parking woes would come to an end.
The President also appealed for support of the private sector due to its contribution to national development.
“In future, we will be able to fund our own budget,” said Museveni.
