Kalungi Has Case To Answer

While giving her ruling on Friday, Nambayo stressed that Kalungi between September and December 2012 was involved in supply of illegal narcotic drugs to Nebanda.

The magistrate further asserted that the 21 witnesses produced to court pinned Kalungi and his accomplices on the same charges.

Nambayo further asserted that Nebanda’s death was caused by unlawful means after spending time at Kalungi’s home. Kalungi later led the lawmaker to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The magistrate observed that narcotic drugs were found in blood samples of the departed legislator during the postmortem.

Kalungi and his co-accused were asked to account for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.

The chief suspect was returned to remand at Luzira prison while bail for his accomplices was extended until November 25, 2013 when they will appear before the same court.

In an interview with Chimpreports, Kalungi’s lawyer Allan Gakyaro Mpirwe noted that “this will help court to know all the loopholes in the evidence presented before court. The country will know the truth.”

Nebanda passed away under unclear circumstances on December 14, 2012.
