“The machine has been cleared after check-up and no one of us is nervous, so we are ready to make it in style because this must be a historical part of our life as the 2nd Ugandan to win the ARC championship,” Mangati told ChimpSport.

The 385 km rally has attracted more than 25 drivers who will contest in different categories.

As Jas Mangati and Jessy Singh vie to lift the 2013 African rally championship, Madagascar’s Boom Patrick and Mathieu Andrianjafy are trying out their luck to clicnh the 2013 Madagascar Rally Championship.

Both Jas and Jessy will be cruising in Subarus.

Sources say Mangati only hired the Subaru from Madagascar to cut the costs of shipping in his own.

“I also feel comfortable in this car, it’s like I have been using it for a while,” Mangati mused.

Currently, Jas Mangati is leading the ARC championship with 83 points and has a chance of lifting the championship if he can win the Madagascar rally.

If the two ARC contestants (Mangati and Jessy) fail to finish, Mangati will be crowned champion, but if Jessy finishes ahead of Mangati, he will automatically be awarded 25 points and Mangati will be awarded 18 points which will be added to their current 81 and 83 points respectively.
