“They have led to increased prostitution, drug abuse, homosexuality, high rates of HIV among university students,” explained Tugume.
Tugume is certain that many of the foreigners who flock to the country end up in hostels practicing and recruiting university students into these immoral acts hence the need to investigate all private hostels in the country.
UCU Students’ Sex Tape Saga
Not long ago, students of Uganda Christian University shot a sex video and the tapes were leaked to the social media and other local outlets.
The saga bewildered parents and put the university’s reputation at stake.
Rev. Milton Tweheyo, the Director of Student Affairs, Uganda Christian University in a statement confirmed that “the two male students featured in the video are indeed UCU students”.
He, however, refuted media reports saying that the video was not filmed at the hostel where the students currently reside but somewhere else.
He vowed to take disciplinary action against the two students.
It has become a trend for students to play live sex in the privacy of their hostel bathrooms and even film it on their mobile phones for public consumption.
Activists are putting the government on the spot concerning this growing habit which is further blamed for the increased spread of the HIV virus among university students.
Some have even suggested that instead of Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) commander, Andrew Felix Kaweesi hunting down street prostitutes, he should direct his cuffs to students in hostels.
