National Housing Meets Resistance In Kireka

The land in contention covers the areas of Kiganda and Kasokoso in Kireka Town.


According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Idi Ibin Ssenkumbi, the rioters lit bonfires in the middle of the roads before hurling stones and sticks at NHCC officials.


It took the intervention of Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, to restore sanity.


“We maintain heavy police presence due to rising tensions in the area,” said Ssenkumbi.


He further added that a guard attached to Kabaka Ronald Mutebi’s place in Kireka sustained an injury on his forehead during the chaos.


“We have stopped National Housing from surveying the land and 5 arrests have been made.”
